Creating Your First Lead
Leads are the foundation of LeadsFollow. This guide will walk you through creating and managing your first lead.
What is a Lead?
A lead represents a potential customer who has shown interest in your travel services. Each lead contains:
- Contact information (name, email, phone)
- Travel preferences (destination, budget, dates)
- Status (where they are in your sales process)
- Activity history (communications, tasks, notes)
Creating a Lead
Method 1: Using the Add Lead Button
- Go to the Leads page (click "Leads" in the sidebar)
- Click the "Add Lead" button (top right)
- Fill in the lead form:
- First Name (required)
- Last Name (required)
- Email (required)
- Phone (optional)
- Desired Destination
- Budget (single amount)
- Status (defaults to "New")
- Source (how they found you)
- Click "Create Lead"
Method 2: Using Forms
You can also capture leads automatically using forms on your website. See the Forms Guide for details.
Viewing Your Lead
Once created, you can view your lead by:
- Clicking on the lead card in the leads list
- This opens the lead detail page with multiple tabs:
Overview Tab
- Contact information
- Status and source
- Budget and destination
- Working trip details
- Notes (stored as Activity records)
- Communications (calls, emails, meetings, SMS)
- Contacts (primary and additional)
- Trips management
Tasks Tab
- Create and manage tasks
- Set reminders and due dates
- Mark tasks as complete
Files Tab
- Upload and manage documents
- Share files with clients
- Organize trip-related files
Portal Features Tabs (Requires Working Trip)
- Itinerary - Build day-by-day trip plans
- Quotes - Create and send proposals
- Portal - Build and share client portal, including invoice management
Editing a Lead
To edit a lead:
- Open the lead detail page
- Click the "Edit" button (usually in the header or Overview tab)
- Update any fields
- Click "Save Changes"
Changing Lead Status
Lead status indicates where a lead is in your sales process:
- New: Just captured
- Qualified: Interested and ready to plan
- Planning: Actively planning a trip
- Quoted: Quote sent
- Following Up: In follow-up process
- Booked: Trip booked!
- In Progress: Trip currently happening
- Completed: Trip finished
- Cancelled: Trip was cancelled
- Lost: No longer active
To change status:
- Open the lead
- Click the status badge
- Select the new status
Or drag and drop in the Pipeline view.
Assigning Leads
If you work with a team, you can assign leads:
- Open the lead
- Look for the "Assigned To" field
- Select a team member
- Save
